Trek to Annapurna Base Camp
Day V
Day 5:
Bamboo - Jhinu Pul
We planned to start really early the next day. The ideal time was 5:30 am. However, we ended up waking up at 5:30 am and after packing everything and getting dressed it was 6:30 am when we started. After a 5-10 mins walk, we were just glad we didn’t do it the day before because it was a steep staircase and it just went on and on.
After the stairs, the walk towards Upper Sinuwa was just a breeze. After a little bit of a break in Upper Sinuwa, it was a continuous walk until the bottom of Chhomrong stairs. It was another challenge to conquer. We were just taking our break somewhere in the beautiful Chhmorong village when a couple of bulls were coming back to their shed. The moment was pretty ordinary, except it was not. The bulls, it transpired didn’t like 2 strangers chilling around their home and we were actually chased a considerable number of stairs until he was fully satisfied we are not going to come back and invade his home.
After conquering the stairs of Chhomrong, we could now spot Jhinu pul. It looked like a small miniature bridge from the point we were looking from but the 4WD cars lined up on the other side just filled our hearts and told us we were waiting for you to take you home. We started our descent from there and met many other trekkers who were beginning their journey just like we were 4 days back.
On our way back, I heard one of the trekkers asking his friends, “They say trekking is going to be fun, so when is the fun starting?” To him, all I wanted to say was, that he was actually walking on it and fun had in fact started when they took the first step to start their trek to Annapurna Base Camp.
